Reggie

After losing our LRRoF alum, Barney, we adopted FYNN from a foster Mom, Clair Kennedy in Port Saint Lucie December 17,2016. FYNN was the perfect boy but we thought he needed a fur friend. We got a call from Lab Rescue that they needed a foster for a stray that was taken in in Englewood with some serious health issues. His name was Rebel and we picked him up 7/28/17. He was diagnosed with hip dysplaysia but also had an infection of the spine. After 7 weeks of excellent medical care through LRRoF veterinarians and specialist, we adopted Rebel, who became Reggie. Reggie is now enjoying his life with FYNN, my husband and me. We are retired and spend all of our time with these 2 boys. They have come a long way from walking the streets of Miami and Englewood.

Riley

Riley came to me in a time of grief after just losing my husband. I believe he was sent to me from him as he is exactly the dog we had both wanted to love and enjoy.. He has brought hrs of laughter to me and fun times. He is an excellent dog and I cannot thank the rescue people enough for bringing him to me.

Rocky

Rocky came from Miami after original owner could no longer properly care for him. He was surrendered to a High-kill shelter in Miami-Dade and fortunately LRROF came to his rescue within 24 hours! He was just 13 months. LRROF got him a good veterinarian, who thoroughly checked him, neutered him, and chipped him. Foster mom Samantha welcomed him to their home. There she noticed that he was suffering from Reactive Aggression and anxiety. We then adopted Rocky after been with her foster mom for about a month. Rocky had severe separation anxiety issues as well as anxiety and aggression towards other dogs while on the leash. We were living in Wellington back then and utilized behavioral services from Mindy at Lucky Dog in Jupiter. We worked hard with her for almost 3 months and made some progress, but she referred us to Dr. Lisa Radosta who medicated Rocky and has made a huge positive difference. He has been with us now for a little more than eleven months and he truly rocks!!!! We are happy to have him in our lives. He is very well adjusted to us and he is now part of our forever family!!!!

Ranger

After our sweet 13 year old Lab, Gator, passed we thought it would be a long time before we could bring another dog into our home and hearts. But we quickly realized that our family was just not complete without one. We decided that a puppy was not a good choice for us at this stage inour lives, so we quickly decided that a rescue was the best choice. The website had so many dogs that needed homes, it was difficult to choose just one. Our coordinator, Ellen, worked very hard to help us find one that would be perfect for or family and our lifestyle. One year ago today, we brought home Ranger. At six, he was a bit older than we had initally wanted, was 20 pounds under weight, and had a lot of fur to grow back, but we felt a connection with him right away. With good food and lots of love, Ranger has become one very handsome dog! He is so sweet and playful, loves going to the beach and getting out on our boat with us. His house manners turned out to be excellent and he quickly adjusted to our routines. This was all one big advantage to adopting an older dog! Ranger has become a great member of our family and has helped to heal our hearts after saying goodbye to Gator. We want to thank everyone in this organization for all they do to help these sweet dogs find loving forever homes. And I'm sure Ranger thanks you too!

Rosie

I lost my Chocolate Lab (Roxie) due to old age (14 1/2 years old) I live alone and was heartbroken. I said that's it ! Im not getting any more dogs. It just hurts to much. I was sitting alone every night just thinking about my Roxie and crying my eyes out. After 2 months, I couldn't stand it any more. I started looking to rescue another Chocolate Lab. ( I rescued Roxie as a puppy) I looked at all the rescue web sites that I could find. Finally I contacted LRRoF, filled out an adoption application. I was contacted and A representative came to my house and I was approved for adoption. Now I just had to wait for a dog to come along. Lo and behold the very next day there was Ella that was just brought to the foster parents. I drove to Fort Lauderdale on a Sunday and fell in love with her immediately. She was overweight and somewhat a little wild. She now has lost about 15 lbs and looks great. I brought her to the vet for her rabies shot and he couldn't get over just how beautiful and how her coat was just so shiny. She is in good health and I am still in the process of training her. she has learned so much in just a short time and she is eager to learn more. Thank You so much LRRoF for connecting us together. We are now both happy and so grateful to you. Thank You Again. Ray

Ruby

When Ruby came to the Orange County Sheriff's Office she was in great condition, due to the great care provied by her foster parent. Before being taken in by Lab Rescue she wasn't as lucky. Ruby was was one day away from being put down and had a bad skin infection and had just dropped a litter of pups. To say it was hard to see picture of her in this state is an under statement. Thank goodness Lab Rescue stepped in when they did. Ruby is now a fully certified Narcotics K-9 with the Sheriff's Office. She will be saving lives by stopping illicet narcotics making it to the streets. She is also the best friend to Agent Hannon and his kids when she is off duty. Here is Ruby with her first narcotics seizure which has a street value of $62,000.00. Moneys that won't make it to the pockets of drug dealers which are responsible for 90% of the crime in Orange County. Thank you Lab Rescue for all that you do.

Rocky

My previous rescue Bedlington terrier passed in February 2010 at age 15 years- his name was Winston and I had also rescued his father who passed in 2002- Hemingway was his name and they were both from Key West- confiscated in a drug bust. After a period of mourning, I was deterined to rescue another dog and decided to pursue a Labrador- I had never owned a "big" dog before but Labs are so engaging. Initially, Lab Rescue gave me a young girl Lab in fall 2010 named Leyla. She was a sweet girl with me but had heartworms and was agressive with other dogs and people- it was an unfortunate pairing but I do not blame Lab Rescue- I think the foster family did not live up to expectations and maybe misrepresented Leyla's condition but that is not important at this time. After 3 months Lab Rescue agreed to take her back to foster and it was very hard to let her go because she was so sweet with me- I only hope I gave her 3 months of additional loving foster care. I hope she has found a better forever home- she deserves it. In March 2011 they matched me with Rocky- a 5-6 year old black lab who is the best thing who ever happened to me. He has never had an accident, barked (except at meals with joy and expectation) or chewed. He is a cuddly best friend- so open and loving and attached to me- he is perfect, great on the leash, and everyone in my community loves him and dotes on him. He goes to day care at Central Bark in Fort Lauderdale 3 times a week and is called Rock Star by the staff-...
