On this page you’ll find stories of successful matches between rescued LRROF dogs and their families.  These stories are written by the families themselves.  We hope you enjoy reading them as much as much as we do! Please note that we post the stories as volunteer time permits.

Echo

We lost our Shadow, a Weimaraner around the holidays at the end of 2016. Our GSP, Max was lonely and we reached out to the LRROF after looking at available dogs online. We fell in love with Echo and and added him to our family in March of 2017. When he arrived, we could tell that he never had much affection or care. He was heartworm positive, had flea treatment, teeth worn down and his fur was missing in some spots. Thanks to LRROF's help in treating the heartworm, he quickly improved and settled in. He is a happy, playful little guy who LOVES treats, head scratches and playing with toys. We are so happy to have him in our home!

Ella

We had such a wonderful experience with LRROF. We adopted our sweet Ella 3 weeks ago, and it is like she has been a part of our family forever. What a perfect match! Our adoption liaisons Blaine and Jeanene were wonderful, and Ella's foster, Kim, was fantastic!! We are so grateful to your organization for rescuing Ella and allowing us to be her new family!! God bless your organization! Keep up the great work!

Emma

In 2006 I was blessed to be introduced to Lab Rescue when I found Ellie Mae. I have grown up with dogs all my life and when I purchased my first house I need a dog to make it a home! I saw her picture online and new I had to have her. After driving to Tampa and adopting Ellie, I knew I had to be part of the organized that did such wonderful work. During my time volunteering I came across another Lab, Emma that a family was looking to surrender. Once I saw her, I knew she was the final addition we needed. She was by my side for many milestone and ended up being my daughters best friend. Last month Emma Sue crossed over the rainbow bridge and has left a hole in my heart. She was a loyal friend to me and my family and will be greatly missed. Her canine sister, Ellie isn't the same since she left us. Rest in peace my sweet dog. You weren't lucky to find me......I was lucky to find you.

Eli

In Aug 2013 we lost our Choc girl Bogey after 12 years with us. She was also rescued by us in Maryland. Our hearts were broken and I was now retired so we vowed no more dogs. Early in 2014 Gertie started looking at the LRROF site. I just knew what was coming. We went to some meet n greets and met Wanda, a LRROF volunteer and foster. We were looking for an older dog and she told us about Eli. We went to her house to meet him and the rest is history. We were scheduled to drive to our summer home in northern Michigan just one week after the adoption. In the vehicle he goes after only being with us for one week but you would have thought we had him much longer. He has put on a couple of pounds, which was needed, and is enjoying the cool summer weather and swimming in the nearby lake. I would highly recommend adopting a senior dog. He was all trained and ready to go. Soon the weather will turn cold and we will be headed back to Florida. Some of my friends say that Eli has hit the lottery and if that's true I we have done so as well.

Ellie

My husband and I already own a yellow lab Belle, she is 14 years old and we have had her since she was 6 weeks old. Our son has grown up with her and we decided that with her being a senior that it was time to think about having another dog in our family. That is when I came across Ellie on the LRROF website. I beautiful white coat young girl. I saw that the LRROF was going to be at our local Petsmart that weekend so we went to talk with them about her. Sad that she was not one of the dogs that was there we quickly jumped at getting our paperwork in as we were told she was popular. By the end of that week Ellie was ours. She has made herself extremely comfortable in her new home. Sleeping on the bed and couch all day, playing ball with our son and taking really long walks with my husband. She gets along great with Belle and she doesn't mind her either. Ellie is certainly full of life, trying to take anything off the kitchen if left there and learning how to be more loving. She is happy in her new home as we are having her. We look forward to the years to come with her. Thank you LRROF for helping us with a perfect match for our family!
