Pluto

My name is Pluto, previously named Jarvis (the animal shelter picked this silly name out of a baby book...I did not like it so I ignored it!) I know how old I am but I am not able to tell my new family; but the vet thinks I am about 1.5 to 2 years old. Wandering the streets of Chilton County, Alabama was scary and animal control capturing me was even scarier! I was forced to sit in a cage for 1 week and was coming up on death row before the wonderful people at Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida heard of my imprisonment and came to rescue me! The airplane ride to Tampa, Florida was cool! I think I am the only pooch that has ever been on an airplane!!! I was scared at first, because here I was in a huge unfamiliar city not exactly knowing where I was going next. Cheryl, they call her the "district coordinator of Lab Rescue"...I think that means she is the "mom" to all of us who need a home, gave me a place to stay before I met my foster parents. When I arrived at my foster parent's apartment, I found a HUGE and really comfy bed waiting for me!!!!! Wow, my own bed! My own food bowl, clean water! I thought to myself...this is doggy nirvana! I immediately crawled into my bed and had to try it out. Soon after, my mom took me shopping for toys and treats in a store called "PetSmart"...it was the coolest place ever! It's like "Toys R' Pets"! Neat! I was allowed to hop into the bin of toys and pick out my favorite toy, which is a red dragon that makes a squeaky sound that I go bonkers for! I named him "Squeakers" and I love to sleep next to him. I learned how to walk on a leash, be potty trained inside the house and a few tricks too! Haha, don't tell my mom because she does not like it, but I still like to sleep on the couch when she is at work! (I still have to figure out how to use the lint roller to take all of my hair off of the couch so she does not see my golden locks!) It was soon that my foster parents were told that they had to be prepared because I was fully trained and ready to be put up for adoption! I was scared because I thought I finally found a good home and people who love me. My foster mom cried a lot that night she found out. That night, I over heard my foster parents talking in bed about me and I heard them say, "We are going to adopt him (me)". I was not sure if I was dreaming or if it was true... Well, I am now writing to you from my mom's laptop, looking back on those days of no food, water, shelter, and most of all...treattssss!!!!.....oops back to what I was saying: and laughing at those days with a howl, because my foster parents are now my real mom and dad and I will never be homeless again! I love you mom and dad! Thank you so much Cheryl, Lab Retriever Rescue of Florida, and the lady who saw me in Chilton County Humane Society Animal Shelter (sorry, I don't know your name...but thank you)...because you all saved my life and gave me a second chance!
