Our beloved chocolate lab, Jessie, passed unexpected in 2012. She was only 8 years old. Our hearts were broken. We immediately began the search for a new fur baby because the house was too quiet. We looked to LRROF. Everyday we looked on the web site to see if there was a potential match for us. We have four daughters so we were looking for a dog with a child history. After about a month of searching we found a potential match 3 hours away. Two 3 year old yellow labs, brothers, and they were not to be separated. After considering taking both, we packed up the family and drove to Jacksonville to meet them. After spending some time with them and taking them for a ride in the car to make sure they were good travelers (because we take road trips) we made the decision to bring them home. All 8 of us piled into our Sequoia and made the 3 hour drive back home to begin our lives together. When the LRROF representative came by for a home visit following their placement, she made a comment that I will never forget. She said, "Aww, the boys got a family for Christmas!" That stays with me to this day, over 7 years later. Really, we got the best gift that Christmas-two wonderful additions to our family.
